7 friends allegedly murder man over stolen phone

Seven friends have been accused of beating one Hanafi Umar to death over allegation of phone theft at Bode Saadu, Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State.
According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), only two culprits, Sanni Isah and Ibrahim Abdullahi have been arrested in connection with the crime.
Other suspects now at large include; Ibrahim aka Buzu, Yahaya aka Chairman, Kodda, Anas aka Zakki, Sanusi Muhammed all of Bode Saadu.
Meanwhile, the arrested suspects were dragged before Magistrate Abdulraheem Bello last Friday who ordered that they should be remanded in Federal prison yard following the application of the new Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Kwara State while the matter was adjourned till today (Monday).
The suspects were accused of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide contrary to sections 97 and 221 of the penal code.
The FIR revealed that the matter was first reported at the Divisional Police headquarters, Bode Saadu who transferred it to the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Ilorin for discreet investigation.
The Police report stated that Umar’s body was found in a gutter at Fisco Area along Bode Saadu-Jebba federal highway.
Multiple injuries were reportedly inflicted on the deceased and his hands tied with a rope.
It was on this that the suspects were arrested and charged to court.
Police report added that the duo confessed to have joined forces with other suspects now at large to beat Umar.
The FIR stressed that the suspects also confessed that Umar was seriously beaten following the allegation of phone theft.


…2 others remanded for macheting motocylist to death in Kwara

Two farmers; Samson Steker and John Iba are currently cooling their heels in the prison for allegedly macheting a commercial motorcyclist, Abiodun Abubakar to death in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
They were brought before Magistrate H. A Alege on the offence of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and culpable homicide contrary to sections 6(B) and 1(2) of robbery and firearms (Special Provision) act cap R11 laws of Federation of Nigeria 2004 and section 221 of penal code law.
The First Information Report FIR posited that the complainant, one Umar Musa of Rijoi village via Bani, reported the matter at the police station.
The complainant was said to have sighted the corpse of Abubakar lying in the bush in the pool of blood while he was going to his farm.
Upon the strength of this information, the patrol team of Bani Division led by Sgt Nikolas Musa moved to the scene where the corpse was removed.
The suspects who are from Aleide village in Benue State were reportedly seen riding one unregistered Boxer motorcycle at Igbeti, Oyo State.
When the duo were questioned, it was reported that they failed to give satisfactory account of themselves and the property found in their possession.
It was upon this development that Steker and Iba were arrested by the vigilante and later handed over to the police for interrogation.
The suspects were said to have freely confessed that they killed the motorcyclist whom they chattered to convey them to Bani, in Kaiama.
They were said to have killed Abubakar with stone and machete to dispossess him of his motorcycle, one techno phone and N500 while conveying them to their destination.
