The death of Alhaja Belawu Garuba Gobir, mother to the Wazir Kasar Hausa and philantropist, Alhaji Yakubu Layi Gobir, has been described as an irreparable loss not only to her family but also to the Ilorin Emirate Community and humanity at large.The Acting National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union, Alhaji Yahaya O.Ahmed, stated this while reacting to the demise of Alhaja Gobir.
The umbrella socio-cultural organisation of the people of Ilorin Emirate described the deceased as an outstanding woman, caring mother and priceless daughter of Ilorin Emirate who contributed in no small measure to the progress of the Emirate.
IEDPU recalled the glowing participation of the late Alhaja Gobir in many activities of the union, among other several community development interventions, stating that the IEDPU and the community at large would sorely miss her wise counsels and other patriotic services, particularly at this time when no effort is being spared at accelerating the all-round development of her beloved community.
While Alhaji Ahmed condoled with the Emir of Ilorin, Alh.(Dr.)Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR; the Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin, Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed Gobir and the entire members of the illustrious Gobir dynasty on the passage of an outstanding daughter, beloved wife and lovely mother, the union appealed to the Wazir Kasar Hausa and others she left behind to take solace in the fact that the deceased lived an enviable life dedicated to the services of Allah and humanity.
Alhaji Ahmed prayed Allah to forgive the deceased and grant her Aljanah fridous.
