The Kwara State Government has been urged to patronise local contractors and suppliers in order to reduce poverty and ensure socio-economic advancement of the state.
The President of Kwara State Indigenous Contractors and Suppliers Association (KICSA) under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Moshood Bolakale Aigoro gave the charge at the weekend in Ilorin, the state capital.
Speaking on the sidelines of his 59th birthday celebration at Adewole area, Aigoro said KICSA voted en mass for Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq due to his integrity.
He said, “The indigenous contractors and suppliers in the state under the APC having voted massively for this government will continue to support the present administration in its stride to reposition the state.
“However, in order to reduce poverty which is traceable in all local governments of Kwara State, the present administration under the leadership of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq should patronise local contractors and suppliers. Such development will also provide jobs for our teeming youths and more importantly ensure socio-economic advancement of our state.
“We also urge other elective officers in the state especially those in the national and state assembly to engage our members in their constituency projects,” he said, adding that local contractors can deliver more durable projects that their counterparts from other states.
Speaking further, Aigoro said, “Aside revamping the moribund industries in the state, Governor Abdulrazaq should established three new factories with one in each senatorial district of the state to reduce unemployment especially among our youths.
“If our youths are meaningfully engaged, the society will be safe for all as they will have no motivation to engage in criminal acts.
“On my part, I will continue to serve God and humanity through various empowerments for women and youths in the state. This I will continue to do in order to reduce the hardship faced by the less privileged in the society,” he submitted.
