Motorists hit man, escapes in Ilorin

A yet to be identified man on Friday knocked down a middle aged man, Lukman Afolabi, leaving him in pool of his blood in Ilorin, Kwara State.
It was gathered that the victim was hit by the driver upon his return from his hometown, Offa, where he had gone for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The accident was said to have attracted commercial motorcyclists and passersby who tried to stop the motorist but to no avail as he escaped arrest.
Giving account, an eyewitness said, “the driver of the car after knocking down the man zoomed off, motorcyclists gave him a hot chase but were unable to catch up with him.”
It was further gathered that Afolabi was rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), where he is currently receiving treatment.
In a related development, a motorcyclist ran into another motorcycle injuring the rider and his three passengers at Adeta area, Ilorin, last week.
It was learnt that the victims were returning home from the eid ground where they had gone for prayers when the accident happened.
The motorcyclist was also said to have zoomed off after the accident leaving the injured victims in the middle of the road.
The accident caused traffic jam before good Samaritans helped to convey the victims to the hospital for treatment.
