Alleged N2.5m: Court begins hearing today
The magistrate court sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital will today, behind the hearing of one Hassan Ibrahim who allegedly defrauded Yakub Olusegun to the tune of N2.535million.
He was arraigned before Magistrate Bio Saliu for the offence of advance fee fraud and other related offences Act 2006 Section 1 (3) of advance fee fraud and other related offences.
The defendant, who is of no fixed address was said to have defrauded Olusegun by decieving him to purchase a house at the sum of N2.535million.
The First Information Report (FIR), revealed that the complainant approached him that his landlady wanted to sell the facility.
According to the FIR, the complainant had paid the sum of N2.3million into the defendant’s Oceanic Bank account: 2831701700452.
Instead of using the money to procure the facility, the FIR stated that Ibrahim diverted the money to his personal use and since then, took to his heels.
It was however reported that the defendant was arrested after three years during his mother’s fidau.
At the last adjourned date, the Prosecutor, Adewumi Johnson told the court that investigation into the matter is completed, saying he’s ready for the hearing.
The defendant on his part prayed the court for adjournment, saying his counsel was not available to represent him in court.
The court in its ruling adjourned the matter till Thursday, 22nd, August, 2019.
