The newly appointed chairman of Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin, Kumbi Titiloye has said his new board will ensure that the club get back to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) next season.
Kumbi stated this yesterday during a phone chart with this medium while answering questions about his preparedness for the job.
According to him, the new board are fully ready to reposition the club for glory ahead.
“I have never left the job. I have been into full football management all my life, and I’m indeed ready for the task ahead.
“The players and the management board will ensure that Kwara United back to the premier league. We are in progress for that, in due course it ‘ll be done,” Kumbi said.
Kumbi’s reaction is coming sequel to the disolution of hithertol management board of Kwara United Football club by the Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Tuesday.
The appointment which takes immediate effect has the formal sole administrator of Kwara Football Academy(KFA), Kumbi Titiloye as the Chairman and Hamidu Olowo as the secretary, according to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mamman Saba Jibril.
Other members of the board includes, Bashir Badawi as the General Manager; Yahaya Jibril Usman as Team Manager; AbdulKadir Mohammed Saheed as Welfare Officer; Hamid Alege Olarewaju as member; and Ajadi Bamidele Ganiyu as member.
According to the statement, the appointment of the chairman and members is based on their good track records in football administration and passion for sports development.
Also speaking with this medium, the immediate past chairman of the club, Prince Thompson Oladimeji said he has no regrets piloting the affairs of the club for 7 years.
“My tenure was very good with the team. I promited the club to top league twice and I have no regrets whatsoever being the chairman of Kwara United.
“I would have to apologise for the recent position of the club for not being in the league. It has to do with some challenges bedeviled the club in the recent time.
“I pledge to give the new board of Kwara United my overwhelming support and they should count on me anytime,” Oladimeji stated.
In his reaction, a veteran sports analyst who is also the publisher of Sportspro newspaper, Bayour Issah has also describes the appointment of Kumbi Titiloye as a welcome development in the state.
According to him, ‘ the emergence of the new Kwara United chairman is a good omen considering the fact that he has been in the football for over 3 decades.’
“I strongly belief if we cooperate with him, the club will be back to its glory.
“The former chairman did his best, the only minus is that it is unfortunate that the team went on relegation, but he tried his best, “Bayour Issah noted.
In his own view, the chairman of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Kwara State chapter, Jimoh Basir has also lauds the appointment of the new board for Kwara United.
He said, the new chairman and the entire board have been in sports for a long while and charged them to take the bull by the horn.
“I can only advise them to look at the position of the team viz-a-viz the yarning of Kwarans.
“The cardinal motives of an average Kwara football enthusiast is to see Kwara United back to the premier league,” Basir noted.
The Kwara SWAN chairman did however charged the new board to run an all-inclusive football management by carry everybody along.
