Allow Qur’an to purify your heart for Allah, cleric charges Muslims

By Ahmed Ajikobi
The Imam of Olorunsogo Central Mosque, Sheikh Solihu Ajetunmabi has tasked Muslims to be willing to accommodate the dictates and injunctions of Almighty Allah so that they can be free from the deeds of the accursed devil which will prevent them from the Creator’s mercy.
The Imam made this statement while delivering his sermon at the Juma’at service in Ilorin held at the mosque premises on Friday, adding that Muslims should stay close to Qur’an in recitation and listening to soften and purify their hearts for Almighty Allah.
Ajetunmabi noted that the heart is a very important lump of flesh in the body which represents the region from where all acts and intentions emanates from and empathised the need to strive to always purify it.
According to him, Muslims whose hearts are hard because of sins and transgression of Allah’s limit will not have the benefit of having the sweetness of faith but takes them far away from Allah’s remembrance, forgiveness and mercy.
“All those that have hard hearts are the people that are far away from Almighty Allah. No matter the sermon that he is exposed to, it will not work for him because he is in constant rebellion against God. Such people find it difficult to perform any good deed but turn and work with the evil people in the society.
But Muslims with soft hearts have the fear of Allah and are closer to Him as a result day and night observing solat time to time. Such people are open to the mercy of Allah and do away with evil acts that can lead them astray.
He therefore advised against backbiting, gossiping and encourage constant recitation of the glorious Qur’an to soften the hearts.
“When your heart is pure, every part of your body is pure and the tendency to carry out righteous deeds and vice versa. Al-Qur’an is the only key to move closer to Allah and gives peace of mind. Allah (SWT) sent it through Prophet Muhammad (SAW) to humanity to lead the hearts to Allah.
“The Prophet also charged us to be visiting graves and burial ground so that we think of Allah more often to soften our heart to Allah’s path”.
