Church  not entertainment centre, pastor warns

An Ilorin-based Cleric, Revd. Nath Temi Okunade has warned Christians to desist from habits and programmes that can turn church of God into an entertainment centre.
He noted this while preaching on the theme based on Biblical passage of 1 Peter Chapter 4 verse 10, at Calvary Baptist Church, Gaa-Akanbi, Ilorin, Kwara State, on Sunday.
He berated churches that invite comedians to entertain members,  saying such development is not in tune with the scripture.
The clergyman also maintained that church of God is not a Cooperative society where people  borrow money.
He further warned that no one should make the Church of God a give and take institution where givers indulge in competition over tithes or offering.
He, however, described the church of God as the body of Christ devoid of any form of iniquities, stressing that Christians should always present themselves holy unto God.
According to him, Church of God is expected to be involved in welfare of members through programmes, schemes and activities.
“Church of God has the role to evangelise to the world, this is the commission of God unto mankind. Every steward must be found faithful.
“We must be productive, God has given us everything to do exploit. Baptist Churches must wake up. God is counting on everyone of us because we have received a gift which must not make the Kingdom of God suffer. The owner of the gift will come very soon and ask us to give account of how we’ve used what He gave us.
“If you are a minister, minister with the spirit of God, likewise the choristers and the ushers, we all have different types of ministries, we should function in the house and work of God,” Rev Okunade admonished.
