Van Dijk’s wages to double with new contract
Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk is set to double his wage as he looks to sign a new contract at Anfield according to 90 Min.
The rock in The Red’s defence will watch his wages jump from £125,000 per week to a massive £250,000.
The Dutchman has been a sensation since arriving in Merseyside and although he has a few years left on his contract, a revised deal looks likely.
Fiorentina fancies Fred
After completing the signing of Franck Ribery this week, Fiorentina are targeting further reinforcements in the shape of Manchester United midfielder Fred.
According to La Nazione, the Serie A side want to bolster their midfield options and the out-of-favour 26-year-old is seen as an ideal addition.
However, with United having spent big to sign him from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer, it remains to be seen how much of a loss they are prepared to accept if a transfer does go ahead.
AC Milan not selling Donnarumma to PSG – Boban
AC Milan have no interest in selling Gianluigi Donnarumma, chief football officer Zvonimir Boban said amid reports Paris Saint-Germain want to sign him.
PSG have long been linked with Italy international Donnarumma as they aim to find a rival for Alphonse Areola, having already waved goodbye to Gianluigi Buffon and Kevin Trapp this summer.
But Milan will not be letting Donnarumma leave any time soon and Boban insists the same goes for Suso and Franck Kessie.
Schick eyeing Bundesliga move
Roma forward Patrik Schick could leave the club for a move to the Bundesliga, according to the Corriere dello Sport.
The Serie A side are reported to be losing patience with the Czech international, after two years showing plenty of promise but without delivering consistently.
The 23-year-old notched five goals 32 appearances in all competitions for Roma last season.
Juventus don’t want Icardi
Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici has ruled out a move for Inter forward Mauro Icardi.
The Serie A champions are apparently happy with the state of their squad, with Icardi’s international team-mate Paulo Dybala set to return to the first-team fold.
Falcao rejects Monaco contract for Galatasaray
Radamel Falcao has rejected the offer of a new contract at Monaco and is intent on leaving the club, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira.
The 33-year-old has one year remaining on his current deal but it remains to be seen whether he decides to see it through or force his way out.
Turkish giants Galatasaray are reported to be monitoring his situation with a view to a move.
‘Arsenal have to be realistic with Mustafi’
Arsenal have put off potential suitors for Shkodran Mustafi with an unrealistic price tag, according to his father and agent.
Roma and Monaco were reported to be interested in the unwanted defender, but the Gunners apparently demanded €27 million (£24.8m/$30.3m) for him.
Kujtim Mustafi told Sky Germany: “The best for both sides is probably to work on a transfer. But for that it also needs market-driven transfer-fees.”
Torino wants Verdi or Berardi
Torino are set to start discussions with Napoli for forward Simone Verdi, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 27-year-old was a bit-part player last season, scoring three goals in 22 Serie A appearances, and he watched Saturday’s 4-3 win over Fiorentina from the bench.
If a deal cannot be found, Torino could turn to Sassuolo’s 25-year-old wide man Domenico Berardi.
Celtic not freezing out Sinclair
Celtic manager Neil Lennon says he is not freezing out Scott Sinclair, with the winger simply having a lot of competition for a place.
The 30-year-old, once a key player at Parkhead, has barely featured this season and is thought to be frustrated having failed to make the matchday squad in recent games.
Lennon told the Sunday Mail: “If he feels like that, it’s understandable. We don’t want to treat him badly because he’s a senior pro. It’s just that he’s finding it difficult right now to get into the squad. I can’t pick six wingers.”
Fenerbahce trailing Marseille’s Gustavo
Turkish giants Fenerbahce want Marseille’s midfield lynchpin Luiz Gustavo, according to La Provence.
The veteran Brazilian could move for a fee of around €5.5 million (£5m/$6.2m), with the 32-year-old still under contract for two more years at the Ligue 1 side.
Gustavo is a key player for Andre Villas-Boas’ side, but is also one of their highest earners, so they could be tempted into a sale.
Luis turned down City and Dortmund for Flamengo
Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis claims he turned down offers from clubs including Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and PSG this summer.
The 34-year-old instead returned to his native Brazil to sign for Flamengo.
“At the last moment I had three or four proposals in hand, and then you choose,” he told Globo Esporte. “But from January to July, I see the clubs that want me and it’s a long list.
“There is this club, but they can’t afford you, this other does not want to be champion, so bye. So, a lot of things are happening and at the last minute I closed some important doors, like Borussia, which was a very good offer, but I didn’t feel it in my heart.”
