Awodun, Yusuf Ali, 6 others bag ICAN awards

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria ( ICAN) Kwara and Ilorin District has bestowed meritorious awards to the Executive Chairman of Kwara Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS), Prof. Muritala Awodun, Yusuf Ali SAN, and six others who have exhibited sterling leadership skills thereby contributing immensely to the development of the society.
Speaking during the investiture/Award ceremony held at Government Banquet Hall, Ilorin on Tuesday, the District Chairman of ICAN, Alhaji Mohammed Baba Ibrahim said, ” The professional body carefully selected the awardees considering their outstanding performance in service and leadership qualities.”
Speaking on the plan by the body towards human capital development he said,” As we move into this new terrain, we’ll continue to promote the legacy of the district with the support and collaboration of Kwara State government to achieve good governance and a better Kwara.
“We intend to organise series of workshops for our members and non members in partnership with some notable organisations to enhance their efficiency in their respective offices.
” We will propagate the ‘Catch them young’ agenda of the institute to the nooks and crannies of state most especially areas with low literary level.
The Chairman stressed that the district will intensify efforts in creating employment links for unemployed members within the district.
In his remarks, the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq solicited support of Kwarans in the effort at tackling corruption and ensure prudent management of resources.
Governor Abdulrazaq who was represented by his deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi, said the state government will use available resources to build infrastructure, improve health sector, uplift standard of education, instead of spending public fund to satisfy few people.
Other awardees were the Olomu of Omupo, Oba Yakubu Adebayo Buari II; a technocrat, Alhaji Tajudeen Abdulkadir Audu; CEO, Sobi FM, Alhaji Lukman Mustapha; Vice Chairperson of Kam Industries, Alhaja (Dr) Bolanle Maryam Yusuf; wife of Olofa of Offa, Olori Mistura Gbadamosi and the former Kwara State Accountant-General, Alhaji Suleiman Oluwadare Ishola.
