A mentally deranged woman identified as Mrs Mary Solomon, last Tuesday, delivered a set of twin boys at Pakata Health Centre, Ita-Amo, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Solomon who is said to be living on the streets with no relatives or family to care for her is also said to be suffering from Hepatitis B, a liver disease which can invariably lead to cirrhosis and liver cancer.
Meanwhile, the Chief Nursing Officer of the health centre, Alhaja Aduke Onikijipa, has appealed to the state government and well meaning individuals to come to the aid of the woman and her twins.
According to Onikijipa, the woman due to her ailment (Hepatitis B) cannot breasts-feed the babies except she takes certain injections.
She added that the twins also needed some medications that will cost about N100,000 for them to be able to enjoy normal life.
She said, “Mary came to the clinic herself around 9am on Tuesday and delivered the twins around 2pm same day.
“She sleeps on the streets and does not have a specific place where she resides. She’s always around Secondary School Oloje, Ilorin.”
Speaking to our reporter, the mentally deranged woman, incoherently said she had four children before the twins.
The woman further said she hails from Akure, Ondo State and married to one Taofeeq who she had two kids for.
She added that her husband is a commercial motorcyclist and that she does not know his whereabouts.
