Kwara FA to honour former Association Boss
The Kwara State Football Association has pledged to honor the former chairman of the association, Alhaji Usman Mustapha by named a football competition after him.
The FA chairman, Idris Abdulahi Musa stated this during a courtesy visit to the foremost chairman of Kwara FA in his residence on Friday.
The visitation was centred on the latest developments happening in Kwara football association, most especially, the ongoing U-15 Governor’s Cup.
Malam Musa appreciated the former Kwara FA boss and explained the idea behind the visit, where he explained the recent activities of the FA board since it’s inauguration.
He said Kwara FA is planning to remember and appreciate Alhaji Mustapha while promising to have a football championship named after him.
In his reaction, Alh Mustapha, the Wali of Ilorin, who led Kwara contingent to the 1974 world cup as part of then Nigeria Football Association (NFA) members, made it known that only passionate administrator have what it takes to run football in the modern era and believe the sport can only thrive when there is financial empowerment.
He acknowledged the impact the current FA board has made within a short period and heap praises on Mallam Musa’s determination to revamp football activities in the state while promising to offer support when called upon.
“Football administration is a daunting task and only a person with a strong mentality can successfully organised and control the activities which Malam Musa and his board members have started doing.
“As a matter of fact, the recent happenings in Kwara FA has re-awoken my youthful memories and henceforth I will try as much as possible to be present at football activities in the state”, He said.
It would be recalled that Mallam Musa and his members were democratically elected into the Kwara FA board on the 13th June, 2019 with a total of ten votes.
