A member of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Saheed Popoola has advised the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Bashiru Omolaja Bolarinwa and the state executives of the party and Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to beware of fifth columnists and saboteurs within the party.
Popoola who was reacting to the alleged frosty relationship between the party and the Governor, enjoined all party members to respect the supremacy of the party and never treat the party members and its executives with contempt, stressing that the government deserves the unalloyed support and loyalty of all.
While appearing on a radio programme Tuesday, the only ranking lawmaker in the Kwara State House of Assembly said the Governor and the party chairman must “be wary of fifth columnists who want to cause friction between the party and Governor to score cheap points.
“Nobody can deny the wonderful leadership traits of Bolarinwa; he successfully led the party to an 100% resounding victory at the polls, it’ll be morally wrong to now criminalise him after leading our party to victory. The Governor is on track to deliver the dividends of democracy to Kwara electorates, he must not be distracted by this war mongers dragging his name around. Both the Governor and the party must work together in unison and send packing the fifth columnist causing friction where none exist.
“Gov. Abdulrahman has started well, Kwarans are already commending the new dawn and the style of the Governor, we all, including the party, must be on the same page with him towards ensuring we deliver on our campaign promises” he noted.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State All Progressives Congress (APC) local government chairmen on Tuesday lauded Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for what they described as his giant strides in key areas that directly touched the lives of the people.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the party chairmen said “We are very proud of Your Excellency’s performance in the past 100 days. You have touched very critical sectors of the state. People now have water, roads are being fixed and your style of governance is such that we hadn’t seen for a long time in Kwara,” Adamu Abubakar, leader of the chairmen, said at the meeting they held with AbdulRazaq.
