Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq may forward the
list of commissioners and other would-be appointees to the state House
of Assembly, next week, National Pilot has learnt.
Although the Governor hinted on the possibility of announcing his
cabinet this week at a media parley with journalists last Thursday as
part of his 100 days anniversary, some lawmakers who spoke on the
issue last night said the list is likely to be sent to the House in
the coming week based on discussion with the Governor.
According to one of the lawmakers who is also a principal officer in
the state Assembly, the list might not be possible this week based on
discussion with the Governor.
“There is nothing concrete that the list is ready now and you will
recall that he (Governor) said last week that he would intensify
consultations on the issue. We expect him to do that this week, all
things being equal. But the caveat if I may add is that the style of
the governor and his unpredictability on issues like this is a major
concern to many of us. But our expectations for the receipt of the
list is next week”, the lawmaker added.
Another House member, who also spoke on the matter, said “though, the
issue is in the pipeline as the Governor has noted, it may however not
be possible this week.
“We can’t really say whether the list will come to the House this
week, we are however hoping for next week. The Speaker is presently
out of the state and will most likely be back on Wednesday. The House
will be having it’s last plenary for the week on Thursday and we
believe the Governor having worked closely with the Speaker because of
their robust relationship will want to carry him (Speaker) along in
his consultation,” he added.
Attempts to find out from the Ilorin office of the DSS and EFCC last
night whether any correspondence on the issue from the Governor has
been received were not successful. Sources at commission and agency
could not confirm the development.
Also, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, did
not pick several calls by this reporter, last night.
