Engage your children in Arabic, Islamic studies – Chief Imam, Ilorin tasks parents

The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Imam Bashir Solihu has urged Muslim parents
to engage their children in Arabic and Islamic studies.
The Chief Imam made this known in Ilorin on Saturday during the
Shaadat ceremony of students of Markaz Ulu-ulum wa Da’wah, Institute
of Arabic and Islamic Studies adding that the students apart from
having knowledge of Islam will also be rewarded by Allah.
He warned the students against illicit acts that can destroy them or
lead them to incurring the wrath of Allah.
In his remarks, the Proprietor, Imam Yusuf Pakata Olopoewa applauded
the students for their doggedness adding that they encountered several
challenges before making the graduation list.
He added that they can aspire for greatness with their Arabic and
Islamic knowledge.
According to him, nobody will pass through any of the Arabic and
Islamic institutions that will not succeed in life.
Olopoewa listed Alh Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Prof. Isiaq Oloyede, Emir
Sanusi Lamido, Prof. Lanre Badmas, Grand Justice Idris Haroon among
people who first acquired Arabic and Islamic education before getting
to high profile positions in life.
“With the combination of Arabic and Islamic knowledge with western
education, the graduands will excel in their choosing career,” he
said.
Olopoewa however charged parents to invest in Arabic education of
their children in the same manner as western education.
He also tasked the state government to priortise Arabic and Islamic
studies even as he called for a more encompassing curriculum.
“We heard that they (government) are working on it now but we want to
urge them to make it faster for the sake of Arabic students.”
In attendance were; Justice Solihu Muhammed, Justice Idris Haroon,
Deputy Vice Chancellor, Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Prof.
Muhammed Jamiu.
Among the graduands are; Ibraheem Yusuf Olarewaju, Abdulganiyu
Muhammed  Yusuf, Abdul Lateef Musbaudeen, Ahmad Ambali, Saheed
Abdulraheem, Abdul Jeleel Umar Oni, Ishaq Musbaudeen and Ishaq
Amudalat.
