of guests who have come to sympathise with the family.
Speaking with our reporter, the first son of the late Oluganna, Prince
Kolawole Yekeen described the death of his father as shocking despite
his old age.
Narrating the incident that led to the monarch’s demise, Prince Yekeen
said, he received a call from his brother around 2am on Thursday that
their father was acting strange.
“I took my car keys and drove down to my father’s palace to know the
situation. I met Baba and he kept praying for us with tesbew (rosary)
in his hand chanting the names of Allah.
“He kept on praying for all his children, grand sons, great grandson
and family members.
“He urged us to unite and be ambassadors of peace. That was his last
statement he uttered before passing away around 1:45am.
“I am sad and disturbed because I’m going to miss his advice.
“I always go out with him wherever he is going to and he used to send
me on errands.”
Speaking further, he said at the time his father was on admission at
Ilorin General hospital, the monarch kept preaching peace and the fear
of Allah to all family members visited him on the sick bed.
“He kept thanking God for his life and achievements. He said more of
Alhamdulillah.”
The Prince added that his father must be proud to have witnessed the
wedding of all his children.
“The greatest regret for him is the fact that he had scheduled his 30
years anniversary on the throne for November unfortunately, he could
not wait.
“A day to Oluganna’s death we lost one of our mothers, Alhaja Suwebat
Kolawole on Wednesday. When Kabiesi was informed about it, he said it
