Direct LG service commission to pay 10% COHESS, MHWUN tells Kwara Gov

The Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) Kwara State
chapter has called on Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to direct the
Local Government Service Commission to pay the remaining 10 per cent
of Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for the council
workers.
The state Chairman of the union, Alhaji Muritala Olayinka made the
disclosure during an interview with this medium at the weekend.
He said, ” We are appealing to Governor Abdulrazaq to use his good
office in directing the local government service commission to fulfil
the promise of our 10 per cent COHESS if truly they want the primary
healthcare to be under one roof because we cannot be on the same
salary level and our contemporaries are taking 60 per cent COHESS but
we’re still at 50 per cent at the local government.
“This has been affecting us since July 2018 but we have been patiently
waiting because we want the progress and believe in dialogue because
Kwara is known as a peaceful state.
“Our prayers is that by October ending local government workers will
be enjoying the COHESS as this will create peaceful atmosphere, smooth
relationship and promotion of health in the state.
Olayinka noted that they also have a challenge affecting all health
workers including the administrative staff, agric, health institutions
and those in the various hospitals and dispensaries.
He said, “We have arrears owned ranging from three to seven months
cutting across all the 16 councils and we’re pleading the government
to instruct or authorizes the payment of this arrears.
The MHWUN boss lauded the state Governor giant strides in the health
sector most especially the recent approval of N86 million on primary
health care.
According to him, the Governor has performed well during the 100days
in office in terms of providing basic infrastructures.
