KWSG sensitises Edu, Asa communities on enrolment

The Kwara State Government has reiterated the importance of education
especially at the grassroots level.
The Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq stated this in
Lafiagi, Edu Local Government Area of the state during the flag-off of
pupils’ enrolment campaign drive.
The Governor who was represented by the State Universal Basic
Education Board (SUBEB) Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Bayo Onimago, in
his speech emphasised the need for parents and guardians to send their
wards to school as the state government will soon enact a law as
failure to enrol school age children into schools it is an
infringement on the right of the affected child.
He further assured the people of Kwara that his administration would
build a solid and affordable foundation for children and provide
instructional materials and other teaching aids, adding that teachers
would also be effectively trained and motivated.
Also speaking at the occasion the Chairman, Kwara State House of
Assembly Committee on Education, Hon. Mohammed Baba Salihu, commended
the state government for the laudable programme, adding that the
numbers of children in schools are pathetically poor.
He said that enrolment drive is important at this moment before school
resumption for another session.
In the same vein, the North Central Zonal Director of UBEC, Dr (Mrs)
Ene Adikwu, reiterated the importance of enrolment drive campaign that
it was basically to encourage all Nigerian children to go back and be
enrolled into schools.
On her part, Dr Mrs. Zainab Balogun admonished parents, teachers,
faith and traditional leaders to go back and encourage their people to
send their wards to school.
Also visited was Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State.
