Woman loses N.4m, phones to thieves

A middle aged woman, Nimat Ahmed has lost the sum of N400,000 and a
mobile phone to robbers who attacked her along Adewole/Agbooba road in
Ilorin, Kwara State last Saturday.
Pilot Crime gathered that the robbery attack occurred at about 6am
while the victim was on her way to get a cab to her destination.
According to a friend of the victim, who craved anonymity, Ahmed was
waylaid by the robbers and  beaten before making away with her bag
containing N400,000 cash.
“My friend was on her way to take a taxi to the garage as she was
billed to travel to Lagos that fateful day.
“While she was walking towards Henry George roundabout. Some boys came
out from nowhere and physically assaulted her; she was kicked and
slapped before they collected her bag and phone.
“She shouted for help but there was no one in sight as the place was
deserted and silent.
“The most painful part of it is that the money, N400,000 was
contributed by family members and given to her to buy wares to start
up a business of her own.
The source called on the police to beef up security in the area  from
Ajaokuta street to Agbooba junction, as a result of prevalence of
robbery attacks.
In a related development, a woman simply identified as Temi was
attacked by robbers  at Ajaokuta street, Adewole area of Ilorin, on
Monday.
She was also beaten and her purse containing N7,000 and vital
documents was snatched from her by the thieves.
The thieves who pretended to be waiting for taxi launched attack on
her immediately she got to where they were.
The robbers were said to have escaped through the Mini Campus road.
