Chief of Staff: Gov Abdulrazaq rejects siblings choice, shops for fresh candidate

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has reportedly commenced the search for another candidate of choice to fill the long vacant post of the Chief of Staff, National Pilot reliably gathered last night.
The race for who succeeds late Dr Aminu Logun who died last year has been a thorny issue of sort between the Governor and his siblings most of whom backed the choice of a retried permanent secretary, Prince Abdulkadir Mahe.
The development however assumed a subject of a complex political intrigue when the purported appointment of Mahe resonated loudly across the state despite not been backed by any statement of endorsement by the government to that effect.
But Governor Abdulrazaq, a top source confided in National Pilot last night has began the shop for a new candidate to fill the highly coveted seat after he reportedly turned down siblings support for the Mahe who is the son of the late Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji AbdulKadir (Baba Agba).
According to the source who said he preferred not to be quoted on the issue because of its sensitivity, “Yes, I can confidently tell you that His Excellency, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has began to shop for a new candidate to fill the vacant post of the Chief of Staff.
“This development is coming after he turned down his siblings support for (Prince) Alhaji Mahe Abdulkadir.
“Before now, Mahe has the backing and strong support of three of the Governor’s siblings in the persons of Alhaji Isiaka Abdulrazaq, Senator Khairat Gwadabe and Abdulrauf Baba Abdulrazaq”, the source added.
Recall that Mahe after the purported appointment last year spoke exclusively with National Pilot during his first and only reaction to the issue since it came to limelight.
“As far as I am concerned, I don’t have any problem with whoever is chosen. It is almighty Allah that bestows favour on whom He wants and the Governor…”, he added.
