Southgate names Abraham, Tomori in England Squad for Euro 2020 Qualifiers
Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori have both been included in England’s squad for the European Championship Qualifiers against Czech Republic and Bulgaria by the Three Lions manager, Gareth Southgate with Nigeria now set to miss out on the duo.
Despite having earned two senior England caps in friendlies with Germany and Brazil in November 2017, Abraham is still eligible to play for Nigeria.
The forward’s inclusion in the squad confirms his decision to also represent England at senior international level.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a blistering start on his return to Chelsea, scoring seven goals in seven Premier League appearances, just one less than top scorer Sergio Aguero.
Abraham scored his first Champions League goal on his 22nd birthday against French club, Lille on Wednesday.
Tomori is enjoying a successful breakthrough season at Chelsea, following a loan spell at Derby County last season.
The 21-year-old has made four Premier League and two Champions League starts for Chelsea and scored his first goal with a spectacular strike in a 5-2 win at Wolves in September.
Tomori, a Canadian-born defender, has previously featured for his country of birth at U-20 level, but has since gone on to earn 15 caps for England U20s, winning the youth World Cup in 2017, and 15 caps for the U21s.
