The Kwara state government on Tuesday reiterated its readiness to continue to encourage partnership that will pave way for meaningful development of the youths, especially at the grassroots.
The Permanent Secretary of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Bayo Onimango stated this at a press briefing for the maiden primarily schools U-12 soccer competition, at the Conference Room of SUBEB, in Ilorin.
Onimago, who was represented by the Director, Administration, Sunday Ajiboye observed that the youths have been neglected for long, hence the rise in social vices.
While commending the sponsor of the competition, Top Star Publishing Limited for complementing the efforts of the government, he charged other well meaning Kwarans and corporate organisations to continue to support government in youth development.
Also speaking, the Director, Quality Assurance, Alhaji Ganiyu Raheem Amuda charged the organisers to ensure justice, so as to discover players on merit.
Earlier in his speech, the Managing Director, Top Star Publishing Limited, Pastor Joseph Folorunsho  Omotayo commended the state government, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, SUBEB and other stakeholders, for supporting the initiative.
He said that the competition is basically to bring pupils in both public and private schools together. He added that it’s also introduced to discover talents, under a ‘catch them young’ programme.
Pastor Omotayo said that his company decided to add value to education through its Corporate Social Responsibility.
He added that the competition, which started on Monday October 7th, will end on Thursday October 31st, hoping that the process will promote physically and mentally fit players.
The competition, according to him, will continue annually.
