Provost tasks parents, guardians on discipline of wards
The Provost of Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa, Mallam
Abdulrauf Aliyu Alabi, has charged parents and guardians to monitor
and care for their children in the higher institutions no matter how
busy their schedules.
In a media chat in Ilorin, recently, the Provost emphasised that
discipline must be instilled and re-awaken in our higher institutions,
saying, “The first place of training and discipline is the home.”
He however frowned at parents who leave the care of their children to
teachers and guardians.
Speaking further he said, “It is true that teachers and parents are
expected to jointly bring up students with sound moral character, but
the indisputable fact remains that teachers and caregivers cannot
handle students like their biological children.
“A well trained child is what every parent pray for, hence, the need
to be attentive to our children remain sacrosanct because bad habits
when curbed on time will save parents from lifetime sorrow.”
He therefore advised parents to make school fees and other educational
development levies their first charge in their matrimonial budget
stressing that the best legacy to bequeath their children is education
even as the Provost added that, “College of Health Technology, Offa is
known for producing professionals with good moral character in the
society”.
Similarly, the college’s Bursar, Mr. Ajani Joshua Abiola, acknowledged
the role of prompt payment of school fees and other charges by
students.
He described the Provost as a manager of human and material resources
and a professional administrator.
The bursar appreciated the staff and students for their abiding faith,
patriotism and understanding while assuring that the road map to shore
up the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the college will soon be
unveiled
