Kwara Utd pip MFM 1 nil in a thrilling encounter

 

Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin yesterday defeated their opponent Mountain of Fire and Miracles Football Club from Lagos 1-0 in the week 18th of Nigeria Professional Football League.
The match which was played at the Main Bowl of Kwara State Stadium Complex witnessed a kin contest between the two clubs as they held each others to a barrel draw during the first half of the game.
The first half which saw the host missing many scoring chances against the Olukoya boys whose sole aim was to have a draw.
Defender Christopher Nwaze scored the lone goal for from the spot kick in the 67th minutes, after Issah Saidu was brought down in the vital area.
Speaking to sports writers after the encounter, Coach Abdullahi Biffo of Kwara United expressed confidence in the ability of his players to continue to improving on the log in gradual process, noting Issah Saidu’s wastefulness in front of goal would be corrected in subsequent matches.
Coach Tony Bulus of MFM FC said his plan was to pick a point in Ilorin, but that was not to be, even as he said that Kwara United was not too better in the match rather they were lucky to have won the match.
With the win, Kwara United now have 23 points from 17 matches, and 13th on log, with an outstanding fixture against Enyimba Football Club of Aba.
Meanwhile, in a bid to broaden the income base of Kwara United FC, a new business platform has been created, as the first unit of the business entity, water factory launched it’s products today.
The bottle and satchet water making factory, according to the management, was introduced to create a complementary window to what comes to the club from the government every month.
The water, which was freely distributed during the match with MFM FC will henceforth, be the official water for the team, and will also be available to the public.
In another NPFL matches palyes across the country, Plateau United reclaimed top spot in the Nigeria Professional Football League following a hard fought 1-0 win against title rivals Rivers United at the New Jos Stadium.
Former Enyimba forward Ibrahim Mustapha netted the decisive goal in the third minute. Plateau United now top the table with 32 points from 18 games.
Kano Pillars continued their impressive run courtesy of a 2-0 home win against Adamawa United at the Sani Abacha Stadium. Auwalu Ali and Achibi Ewenike scored both goals for the Sai Maisugida. Pillars moved from 12th to 8th position in the table following the win.
In Nnewi, FC Ifeanyiubah and Akwa United battled to a 0-0 draw in a thrilling encounter.
Wikki Tourists and Dakkada FC also share the spoils at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Bauchi with the game ending in a 1-1 draw.
The hosts took the lead through Daniel Jackson in the 68th minute, while Femi Ajayi equalised for Dakkada three minutes from time.
Nasarawa United boosted their survival hopes with a 3-1 win Abia Warriors in Lafia. Emmanuel Ugwuka gave Abia Warriors the lead in the third minute, but the home team rallied back through goals from Abdallah Mohammed, Chidi Solomon and Haggai Katoh.
At the Okigwe Township Stadium, Heartland defeated Sunshine Stars 1-0 with Abiodun Thompson scoring the winner in the third minute.
