Wasteful Kwara Utd share spoil with Rivers Utd

 

Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin yesterday held Rivers United Football Club of Port Harcourt to a 1-1 draw in the Nigeria Professional Football League week 20 encounter.
The match which was played at the Kwara State Stadium Complex saw the Harmony Boys in a wasteful duel.
Dende Moughara opened scoring for the hosts from the spot in the 17th minute, while Micheal Enaruna equalised for Rivers United four minutes before the break.
The second half saw the host enterprising their opponent with many scoring chances were not converted into a goal.
Speaking after the match, Rivers United Coach, Stanley Eguma lauds his side performance against Kwara United.
“We came here to win, but we had a draw. It is not bad for us. We are working hard toward getting ourselves to the top log on the league.”
With this result, Rivers United have cemented third spot in the table following yesterday barren in Ilorin.
In another matches played across the country, Abu Azeez scored twice as Warri Wolves defeated Katsinal United 2-0 at the Warri City stadium.
In Nnewi, host FC Ifeayi Ubah recovered from a goal down to beat Sunshine stars 3-1. Uche Ihuarulam put Sunshine stars ahead in the 22nd minute, while Samuel Kalu, Abdullahi Aliu and Chigozie Chukwu were on target for Fc Ubah.
Nasarawa United boosted their survival hopes following a 1-0 win against Jigawa Golden stars. Ikenne Ofor netted the decisive goal in the 65th minute.
Akwa United recorded the only away win of the weekend courtesy of a 2-1 win against Rangers in Enugu. Ndifreke Efforg put Akwa United ahead in the 13th minutes, while Kenechukwu Agu equalised for the hosts in the 55th minute.
Akarandu Orok netted the winning goal for the promise keepers in the 70th minutes.
At Sanni Abacha stadium, Kano Pillars edged out MFM 1-0 with Usman Babakolo scoring the winning goal in the 23rd minute.
