KWSG reiterates commitment to quality education

The Kwara State government has reiterated its commitment to sound and quality education in the state.
The state Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Fatimah Bisola Ahmed made this known during the official commissioning of a block of three class rooms with two offices donated by Gaa Imam Community for the beginning of Senior Secondary School in the community.
Hajia Ahmed commended the initiative of the community in complementing the efforts of the present administration in revamping the education sector for the betterment of future leaders.
In her words, “Your motive is to raise a better generation through sound and quality education which is in tandem with the policy thrust of His Excellency, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led administration.
Earlier, the Chairman, Parents Teachers Association, Gaa Imam Junior Secondary school, Alhaji Umar Jide Yusuf, appreciated the Kwara State Government for its efforts in educational development, especially, the renovation and refurbishment of schools across the sixteen Local Government Areas in the state.
He further said, “the provision of facilities like this would enable sons and daughters of the less privileged to have access to quality education as well”.
In her vote of thanks, the Principal, Junior Secondary school, Gaa Imam, Hajia Suleiman Hajarat Omowumi lauded State Commissioner for Education for her leadership roles in promoting quality education in the State.
In another development, the State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Fatimah Bisola Ahmed has again reminded principals in the state that basic and senior secondary education are free and nobody should collect tuition fees under any disguise.
The Commissioner disclosed this during the meeting with Principals of Secondary Schools and other education Stakeholders at Queen Elizabeth Secondary School, Ilorin.
She said government would not hesitate to deal with any principals that collect money beyond agreed Parents Teachers Association levies in the state.
In his remarks, the Chairman Teaching Service Commission, Alhaji Bello Tauheed Abubakar warned Junior Secondary School Principals against establishment of illegal Senior Secondary schools.
According to him, there are laid down procedures for the establishment of Senior Secondary School, any Principal that is not reckoning with the rules and regulations would be sanctioned.
Earlier, the President, ANCOPSS, Alhaji Toyin Abdullahi had reassured the state government on their readiness to monitor punctuality of teachers in the state and also to support government actions against truancy among teachers.
The meeting was well attended by all education Stakeholders in the state.
