Confusion trails burial of Oyedepo’s aunt, Aasiyat, 1 month after

She’s not been buried – Aliagan We interred her three weeks ago – Adopted son, mosque Imam

Controversy has continued to trail the burial of late Alhaji Aasiyat Oyedepo, the aunt of the Founder and Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Pastor David Oyedepo, more than a month after her demise.
The burial of the deceased has continued to generate sharps reactions among sons, monarch and the Muslim community in Omu-Aran following her religious status during her time of her demise.
Recall that Nation Pilot had earlier reported the circumstances surround the demised and refusal of her two pastor sons in Ibadan not to allow her to be interred according to Muslim right.
When contacted on the issue Sunday, Professor Abubakar Aliagan, a lecturer in the University of Ilorin, told National Pilot on telephone her remains has not been buried adding that there is nothing anyone can do about it since it was the exclusive right of the children to determine how they want them mother to be buried especially without any will on it.
According to him, ‘She has not been buried and nobody can do anything about it since her children are the custodian of the corpse.
“Biologically, those boys are her children and no family member can take that right from them. They are in the position to do whatever they wish and that is why it is very difficult for any member of the family to do anything except those boys corporate. But if not, then there is nothing anybody can do” he added.
Also speaking with our reporter on the issue, the deceased adopted son, Alhaji Quasim Olajide however told this medium that her remains has been buried at the Odo-Oro family compound of Oyedepo, Omu-Aran about three weeks according to Islamic right, a position that was corroborated by the Chief Imam of Ile-Oba, where the deceased used to pray, Alhaji Sa’adudeen Bello.
But when confronted with the position of Aliagan on the issue, the Chief Imam who did not denied or confirmed it simply told one of our reporters that said “I will get back to you”. He never did before this paper went to bed.
Also the adopted son, Olajide did not respond to numerous call seeking further clarification.
