Kwara Police, NDLEA, FRSC, NSCDC, others deploy over 7,000 personnel for Christmas

Towards ensuring hitch free Christmas and New Year celebration, the Kwara State Police Command, National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Road Maintenance Authority would deployed over 7,000 officers and men across the state to maintain peace and order.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state Command, SP Ajayi Okasanmi said the police would deploy over 3,500 officers for the festive periods.
However, the state Commissioner of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has urged members of the public to celebrate Christmas and New Year without disturbing affairs of the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson.
He assured people of Kwara State of the Command’s readiness to ensure that the coming Christmas and New year is celebrated peacefully without any breakdown of law and order.
“Robust crime prevention strategies have been put in place throughout the length and breath of the state, constant raids of criminal hideouts, aggressive motorised, foot patrols and traffic decongestion strategy would be embarked upon during the festivities considering the expected influx of visitors into the state during the period.”
Egbetokun also announced the ban from the sales and use of low level explosives like Knock-Out, bangers and fireworks while celebrating Christmas.
He tasked parents and guardians not to buy the banned items for their wards and restrain them from violating this order as offenders would be made to face the full weight of the law.
Speaking with National Pilot, he said “the Command is collaborating with FRSC to ensure that the roads are safe for members of the public during this period so also we are working with other security agencies and individual members of different communities to be sure that the criminals don’t have any opportunity to carry out their nefarious activities during the yuletide.”
On its part, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Command would deploy 2000 officers for Christmas and New Year celebration.
This was made known by the PRO of the Command, Ayeni Olasunkanmi, adding that the Command assured members of the public a hitch free celebration.
Similarly, the NDLEA boss, Ambrose Umoru noted that during Christmas period a lot of criminal activities take place and illegal drug activities is always high.
He said that the Command would deploy all its strength to make sure that members of the public have hitch free celebration.
“We have identified areas and our men are ready and make sure that activities of drugs is going to be difficult for drug smugglers. ”
Also speaking, the FRSC boss, Jonathan Owoade said the Kwara State sector command would be deploying 1,500 officers for successful celebration of the Christmas and New Year across the state.
“We are also working with police and other security agency to enforce safety and hitch free celebration.
“We have two ambulances on ground and also support from Ministry of Health for ambulances to be stationed at Oloru, Offa and other parts of the state.”
The Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authorities Also, KWARTMA boss, Yekeen Bello also assured the public that all his personnel would be deployed across the state for the celebration.
