APC denies postponing membership registration

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied postponing its membership registration and revalidation slated to start later this month.
The secretary of the party’s caretaker committee, John Akpanudoedehe, on Saturday, said a notice of postponement that is being circulated is ‘fake and highly malicious.’
He said the APC’s arrangement for the exercise will proceed as planned by the body.
“The APC membership registration, revalidation and update exercise remains on course and commences as scheduled in the attached timetable.
“As earlier announced, the CECPC has approved the constitution of State Membership Registration Committees for the Party’s nationwide membership registration, revalidation and update exercise. This will be followed by a train-the-trainer workshop,” he said in a statement released after the party rolled out its timetable and names of committee members for each of the 36 states and Federal Capital Territory.
While the APC confirmed January 25 to 27 as dates for the inauguration of state committees and training of trainers, it also specified January 28 to February 2 as days for the distribution of registration materials and gadgets to all designated centres nationwide.
The Phase 1 of the exercise has been scheduled to hold between February 2 and 16 while sorting of registered details will come a day after before taking appeals or complaints from members.
The registration schedule is expected to end with the display of registered members at all party wards and local governments from February 27 to March 1.
Similarly, the Kwara State Chapter of the APC has also confirmed that the party registration exercise scheduled to commence on Monday 25th January,2021 is still on course.
In a press statement signed by the PRO, Alhaji Tajudeen Folaranmi Aro on Sunday, the party stated that only certain adjustments in the programme aimed at enhancing the progress of the exercise have been effected.
It added that with the latest arrangements, the registration exercise is as follows:
January 25th – 28th, Inauguration; Training and collection of materials
2nd Feb. – 16th, duration of registration.
It said the state APC “shall make relevant information about the exercise available to all concerned appropriately before 2nd of February 2021.
Sypnosis of Yahaya Bello-led Registration Mobilization Committee:
1. January 25 – Constitution and training of 7-man State Registration Committees.
2. January 28 to February 1 – Distribution of registration materials.
3. February 2 to February 16 – Membership Registration starts.
4. February 17 to 20 – Collection of completed registration forms from the polling units, wards and LGA.
5. February 21 to 22 – Compilation of registers from registration forms.
6. February 23 to March 1 – Display of membership registers, claims, appeals and objections if any.
7. March 2 to 9 – Return of membership registers to National
“Every registrant will be required to attach 2 passport photos to the registration form, pay party dues as prescribed by the party constitution to collect dues card while only financial members will vote and be voted for during congresses and primary elections”, the party stated.
