Day I visited friend but ended up appearing before Judge as rookie

Friday-Otun shares with our JUDICIARY CORRESPONDENT, KAYODE ADEOTI, her most daunting day in court as a legal practitioner. Excerpts:
For the few years I’ve practised, I’ve had moments in court which to me are dramatic and funny. The most unforgettable moment was my first appearance in court after my call to Bar.
It happened at the High Court, it was funny because, that day, I never prepared to appear before any judge. I only came to court to see a friend.
While I was with my friend, a colleague approached and asked me to appear in a matter on his behalf. He said he had another matter elsewhere to attend to, which according to him was more important.
That day, I was very nervous, I had to bring the little knowledge garnered from the Law School to bare. While I was moving the motion, the Judge was looking at me in a funny way, at a point, I had to stop. He corrected me on how is to say certain things. Luckily, the motion was granted despite the untidiness that surrounded it and the other counsel is a very senior member of the Bar.
When the opposing counsel made a motion, I objected to it and it was granted. That day was a memorable day.
