The Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde has indicted the leadership of the police for their attitude towards the action and exploit of Sunday Igboho in Igangan, a suburb of Oyo State.
He also alleged that the embattled Seriki Fulani, Alhaji Soliu Abdulqadir is the father of kidnapers in the state and alleged that he collected N4.5m ransom on their behalf to release the monarch’s son, Monsuru Aderoju who was abducted recently.
In a telephone chat with the Oyo State Commissioner of Information, Wasiu Olatunbosun last night with National Pilot today, alleged that the displaced Seriki Fulani was aiding the kidnappers to collect ransom from their victim’s relatives, an allegation that was vehemently denied.
Narrating the Igangan incident, Olatunbosun who said “At the state level, we sent Amotekun to go to the forest where the alleged perpetrators operated. It’s the same Seriki that said we are using Amotekun to harass the Fulani. The Amotekun didn’t attack the Fulani alone but anyone they found in the forest.
“When Sunday Igboho went to Igangan to give ultimatum, immediately His Excellency, Governor Makinde called all the security agencies to warn that individual should not take laws unto their hands.
“The question now what stopped the police from carrying out the instructions given by the State governor? The former CP didn’t do anything about it despite the fact that he was officially informed.
“The Governor can’t go there to prevent Sunday Igboho, he will use the security officers. After the scenario last week, he to Igangan to sympathize with victims and also held meetings with stakeholders and the Fulanis in that area.”
“The Seriki has made himself the God father of kidnappers and collected the N4.5m ransom for the release of the son of Oba of Igangan, Monsuru Aderoju.
But Aderoju exonerated the Fulani leader on the issue in a telephone chat last night from Igboho adding that it was the Fulani kidnappers that collected the money and not the Seriki.
Also, the Seriki Fulani Alhaji Saliu Abdulqadir denied the allegations of the state government and challenged his accusers to come out with proof.
He explained further that he was only involved in the arrest of kidnappers in collaboration with the police, SCIID and Fulani vigilantes.
