APC has made life miserable for citizens, Baraje tells scores of decampees in Asa

…Kwarans have lost hope, can't wait to send APC packing – PDP

The Chairman Reconciliation and Engagement Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Alh. Kawu Baraje, on Tuesday, has made a call on party members across the state, in their individual capacity, to use sincerity, maturity and the people’s oriented philosophy of the party to invite youths and women from the nooks and crannies of the state to become registered members of the party.
Baraje disclosed this, while receiving about eighty percent of the All Progressives Congress (APC) members it lost to the opposition camps in the build up to the 2019 general elections in the state in Aboto-Oja Ward, Asa local government area of the state.
The decampees who were led by Alhaji Muritala who, on behalf of others, renounced their former party, pledged allegiance to the PDP in the state.
Baraje noted that while many are currently eager to come back to the party, they don’t know how to channel their enquiry for proper membership, charging stakeholders to be on the alert on how to guide them always.
He equally commended aggrieved members for displaying maturity and forgoing their individual differences to work for the collective goals of the party.
He also promised that resolutions of the interim report submitted by the local government reconciliation committee by the local government party chairman, which was said to represent the position of the entire members of the local government, will wholly feature in the state committee’s report.
He noted further that many of the atrocities committed in the hands of the APC-led administration both in the state and national level have served as eye-openers for the people whose lives have been seemingly miserable in the past few years, but had no option, now, but to join the voyage of justice, fairness and equity.
Some of the decampees recounted several cases of injustice, lawlessness, propaganda and many terrible things, the masses have suffered from the stewardship of the APC government, adding that with the hope rekindling messages brought by the state reconciliation committee, it’s evident PDP is ready to let the people enjoy the beauty of democracy more if given another chance.
In attendance at the meeting were top party stakeholders in the local government including Alhaji Ajelanwa, Alhaji Jimoh Adeshina, Engr. Musa Yeketi, Alhai Yusuf Morocco, Alhaji Isiaka Labaeka, Dr. Muftau Yahya, Dr. Yunus, Alhaji Saka Obalana, Alhaji Rasak Jimoh, Hon. Duro Mohammed, Alhaja Kehinde Bale, Hon. Rahmat Abaya, Alhaji Fatai Sholagberu, Alhaji Kayode Ayegun and Alhaja Aminat Ote among others.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said no amount of lies and false performance claims by the administration of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq will be enough to cover its obvious failures and redeem its fast depleting image.
The party said this in reaction to a government statement that ‘Kwara has topped the table of developmental strides recorded across states governed by All Progressives Congress (APC) for the month of March, 2021.”
According to the PDP’s State Publicity Secretary, Tunde Ashaolu, the performance claims are false and laughable adding that there is nothing on ground in Kwara State to justify such ‘ridiculous assertions’.
It said “no amount of lies and fake performance claims will be enough to cover the obvious failures and atrocities of Governor Abdulrahman and redeem his fast depleting dwindling image and goodwill among Kwarans.
“We challenge the Abdulrazaq-led administration to highlight the purported 19 developmental strides it recorded across various sectors in the month of March. The government should however note that Kwarans are aware of its disappointing performance and will not be swayed by propaganda and deceits that have characterised the present administration.”
The Kwara PDP further noted that Kwarans are disappointed and embarrassed about how Governor Abdulrazaq has been governing the State, saying that the level of ineptitude of his administration is unprecedented.
It added that “Governor Abdulrazaq has shown to be an ineffectual leader who also, unfortunately, surrounds himself with incompetent and inexperienced people that have failed to add any value to his administration.
“Sadly, this is reflecting in the manner at which the State is being governed, with frustration and discontent spreading among the populace, including those who labored and contributed in bringing the governor to power. They have all lost hope in his administration and cannot wait for 2023 to come, to send him packing.”
The party also decried the growing level of insecurity pervading the State, noting that kidnappers, armed robbers and ritual killers now operate freely in different parts of the State, putting Kwara on the edge.
