The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command has arrested a 35years old man, Segun Oni for raping a minor in Igbaja, Kwara State.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC state Command, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, the suspect was caught red-handed by the grandfather of 12-year-old victim (names withheld).
He said the suspect was having canal knowledge of the minor under a mango tree, when luck ran out on him, last Monday.
This medium was informed that the suspect lured the victim with gifts and money and defiled her several times before he was caught on the fateful day.
“The case was reported at NSCDC Igbaja Divisional Office on the 14th of June, 2021 around 1830hrs by the victim’s grand-father who caught the suspect in the act of having canal knowledge with his 12-year-old grand-daughter under a mango tree.
“After thorough investigation, it was discovered that the victim is suffering from congenital mental deficiency which has impaired her communication and social skills. Literarily she hardly talks to people.
“In addition, a medical report obtained from from an hospital in Ijagbo, shows penetration and bruises in the victim’s private area.
“The suspect confessed that on several occasions he lured the young girl with gifts to isolated areas to take advantage of her.”
The Spokesperson said that the suspect would be charged to court after investigation has been concluded on the case.
