Man 25, remanded for cattle rustling

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin the Kwara State capital had on Wednesday, 16th June, 2021 remanded a twenty-five-year-old cattle-rearer, Umar Mohammed over an allegation of cow theft.

Umar who was arrested in Akama village, Oro-Ago, Ifelodun Local Government area of Kwara State for allegedly rustling cows which were about 60 in numbers.

The suspect while being arrested was reportedly in possession of a firearm, a locally made pistol and five live cartridges.

According to the Police First Information Report (FIR) ,it was disclosed that the primary suspect Umar was said to have conspired with six other persons to perpetrate the act.

In a further discovery, it was also revealed that a total of forty-six cows were later recovered from the suspect, while fourteen have already been sold.

The prosecuting counsel, Sanni Abdullahi, urged the court to remand the the defendant (Umar)in custody of the correctional service on the basis that he doesn’t have any legal representation.

The presiding judge, Magistrate Jumoke Bamigboye ordered the remand of the defendant while the matter was adjourned to 22nd of this month.
