Togolese machetes 16-yr-old Fulani herder in Kwara

A 16-year-old Fulani herder, Umaru Abdullahi escaped death by whiskers last Monday when he was attacked with a machete by a 45-year-old Togolese, Kosi Salisu, in Banni area of Kwara State.
National Pilot gathered that the suspect was infruiated when cows of the herder encroached on his farmland, which led to the physical assault on the victim.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara Command, Babawale Afolabi, in a
statement made available to this medium on Tuesday, stated that, the case was reported at Banni Division of NSCDC.
“On Monday, 14th June,2021 at about 0800hrs, a case of assault was reported at our Owode Outpost Banni Division by one Umaru Abdullahi, 16years old Fulanis
boy against one Kosi Salisu, 45 years old Togolese man.
“The complainant said, he was grazing beside the suspect’s farm and one of his cattle mistakenly entered the suspect farm.
“By the time he was trying to drive the cow away from the farm, the suspect machete him both on the forehead and stomach.
“The complainant was taken to the hospital for treatment after which the suspect was invited. After interrogation he admitted to the commission of the offence, but claimed that he was also injured by the complainant.
“The suspect was released on bail to a reliable surety to be able to go and treat himself and the case. investigation into the matter is still ongoing,” the statement added.
