6 remanded over alleged robbery  in Ilorin

The magistrate court sitting in Ilorin the Kwara State capital on Tuesday remanded six suspects over alleged robbery in Ilorin.

According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), the robbers armed with three guns on 21 January, 2019 one Mrs Toyin Amin at her house and carted away with a Toyota Corolla LE car.

One of the bandits, Taofik Tunde Jimoh, was arrested and he confessed to the crime.

In the course of interrogation, Jimoh mentioned other members of the gang as Nasir Shuaibu Adebola, Olaitan Sulyman, Amidu Mohammed,, Quadri (surname unknown) and one Easy (real name unknown).

The FIR revealed that further investigation led to the arrest of Ademola while one 32 inches Samsung Plasma Television, one pair of ear ring and one finger ring were recovered from the gang. Investigation also led to the arrest  of Sulyman  and Mohammed while one locally made pistol used for the robbery operation and one Amado LG palm tip Phone tablet were also recovered from him.

Other items recovered  include,  one Toyota corolla car with registration number LKJ 102 DJ valued at N1, 600. 000.00, one iphone 8s valued N250.000.00, one Iphone 6s N200. 000.00, one LG K30 phone valued N150. 000.00, two luggage bags containing clothes and shoes.

They were dragged before. Magistrate Bukola Bamgbola for criminal conspiracy, illegal possession of firearms and armed robbery contrary to sections 6(B), 2(3) and 1(2) of Robbery and Firearm (Special Provision) Act Cap R11 Laws of the Federation  of Nigeria 2004.

The prosecutor, Adewumi Johnson prayed the court to remand the accused persons as the matter is still under investigation.

In his rulling, Magistrate Bamgbola remanded the accused persons, the case was adjourned to 9th April, 2019.


…10 others remanded over alleged murder

The revenue court sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Tuesday remanded ten accused persons over alleged murder of one Mahmudu Adamu of Kero village ,Ilorin, Kwara state.

The Police First Information Report (FIR) revealed that the case was transferred from Divisional Police headquarters Gwanara  to Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) for discreet investigation.

The FIR stated that on 30th March,  2019, one Bete Jimoh Bio reported that he was attacked in his room by one Mahmudu Adamu now deceased.

The FIR further revealed that on the same date, one Husseni Jibrin,  Sabi Alhassan , Usman Abdulrahman, Idowu Kareem, Abdulraheem Usman, Suleiman Ibrahim ,Ahmed Usman and other unidentified persons invaded their house with knives, cutlass  caterpault and damaged their  windows.

While Bio escaped with machete cut on his right hand finger, Adamu was stabbed to death by one Sabi Yaraku now at large.

Investigation conducted at the CIID led to the arrest of Haruna Kamiaru Tijani, Abdulkareem Umar, Siyanu Bello all of Kero village suspected to have participated in the attack while others are still at large.

It was also revealed that prior to the attack, there was a threat letter of an impending attack threatening to destroy the village and his family linage because of the support for the appointed chief Mohammed Adamu Yeere, the village head of Kero by the Emir of Gwanara.

They were dragged before Magistrate Oyedepo Oluwaseun for criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide contrary to section 97 and 221 of penal code.

The  prosecutor, Innocent Owoola said investigation has been concluded on the matter. He prayed the court to remand the defendants in prison since the matter is not within the jurisdiction of the court pending outcome of legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution, Abdulmumin Adebimpe Jimoh.

In his submission, Counsel  to the defendant, Abdullahi Jimba asked for an adjournment which was granted by the court.

In his rulling, Oluwaseun remanded the defendants in prison while the case  was adjourned to 18th April, the 2019.
