Paul Onuachu was widely expected to make the big transfer to a major league this summer but a report now suggested he may not move after all, which will be a surprise.
With three days to the transfer deadline, Onuachu may now stay put at Belgian club Genk even after scoring 35 goals last season.
“If there was a good offer for certain players in the last two days, we may refuse it. We are not going to let our best players go if we don’t have a replacement yet,” Genk sports director Dimitri De Conde told Sporza.
Genk already have Cyriel Dessers and with arrival of Iké Ugbo, it means they now have two options for Onuachu.
Coach John van den Brom has said he would be happy to work with all three strikers because the team will be involved in a very busy season.
