I started as a baker – NAJLAT Motors

Alhaji Bashir Shittu, the Chairman of Najlat Motors has said his way to become a successful business man was not a day job saying he left bread making to selling cars.

According to him, ‘I started motor business with two cars after the then government booted me out of bakery business following the ban of importation of wheat by the military government.’

“I started car business with second hand cars from Idi-Iroko to my customers here in Ilorin. Then we have only two var dealers in the whole Ilorin.

“I started with N75,000 through hard labour. I sells much on installmental system of trading,” Shittu said.

Narrating the hardship and challenges he undergoes in the business, Shittu said he was able to make brake even  as a result of persistent and doggedness amidst unpalatable government policy.

“We lots of challenges in the businesses ranging from poor policy by the government. There was a time immigration officers chased me with guns in attempt to shot me.

“Looking back today, I have cause to thank Almighty Allah. There wasn’t any time I attempted to back out of the business. Today ,NAJLAT motors has become an household name in Kwara,”.

The leading motor dealer in the state however charges youths on the need to trust in themselves and embrace business.

“I want to encourage modern youths to believe in themselves and stop looking for white collar job that does not exist. Ic you believe in yourself you will be yourself,” Shittu advised.
