Wellbeing Foundation Africa gets 8 Vscan ultrasound to aid zero maternal deaths

Wellbeing Foundation Africa, a Non-Governmental Organisation has received 8 Vscan ultrasound machine aimed at achieving its global goals of zero maternal and neonatal deaths by 2030, National Pilot learnt.
The donation of the medical equipment is coming on the heels of the Nigeria Division of the global diagnosis and treatment tech giant, General Electricals (GE) Healthcare.
With the arrival of the high-tech ultrasound machines, promise to go a long way in aiding WBFA’s progressive antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care pathway; a community-centred offering assistance in the early detection and subsequent diagnosis of women and neonates, all in a bid to minimise adverse antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal complications.
Speaking on this development, the founder Wellbeing Africa, Barr. Toyin Saraki said with the donation of the Vscan ultrasound machines, the zeroing maternal and neonatal mortality of the foundation is much achievable.
According her, “this week, I am delighted to celebrate another achievement on our global journey to zeroing maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity.”
“We are constantly finding new ways to strengthen our community-centred offerings at Wellbeing Africa particularly through increasing midwives access to medical equipment in Nigeria.
“Traditional physical examinations can often be uncomfortable or even painful for expectant mothers, but a comfortable and accessible ultrasound scan during labour, delivery and the maternity ward is important to monitor everything from the fetal position to the mother’s bladder after delivery, “ Saraki said.
The Humanitarian added that the new ultrasound machine will further aid the speedy detection and subsequent diagnosis of women and neonates will be enhanced.
“Now with the generous donation of 8 Vscan handheld ultrasound machines from the Nigeria Division of the global medical technology innovator, General Electric Healthcare, the early detection and subsequent diagnosis of women and neonates is being enhanced at 8 more of the hundreds of primary health centres where our MamaCare Midwives provide a continuum of antenatal and postnatal care and counsel for every woman and her newborn.
“I congratulate the 8 recipient health facilities nominated by Wbfa mamacare360 community midwives, to receive our donations of ultrasound equipment.
“Thank you GE for your support and donation that will contribute to the empowerment of the frontliner and the family,” the Wellbeing Africa foundation boss said.
However, the beneficiary communities of the Vscan ultrasound machine includes Okelele PHC, Ilorin East LGA, Kwara State, Ajikobi Cottage Hospital, Ilorin West LGA, Kwara State, Lugbe PHC, Abuja Municipal Area Council, FCT Abuja.
Others are Dafa PHC, Kwali Municipal Area Council, FCT Abuja, Karu PHC Abuja Municipal Area Council, FCT Abuja, Oniru PHC, Eti Osa LGA, Lagos State, Ijora Oloye PHC, Apapa LGA Lagos State, Isokun PHC Ilesha West LGA, Osun State.
