Terry Apala: I was robbed by men with cutlass in Lagos traffic

Terry Apala, the Nigerian musician, has narrated how he and his crew were attacked and robbed on Monday while they were stuck inside gridlock in Lagos.
In a video shared via his Instagram page on Tuesday, the musician said the assailants attacked them with cutlasses while trying to navigate through the gridlock at the third mainland bridge.
A voice narrating the incident in the video said the suspected robbers made away with their phones after they destroyed their car.
“F*ck it, Nigerians Lagos is not smiling. We were stuck inside Lagos traffic and some guys came out with cutlass, they took our phones and destroyed the car,” the voice said.
In a terse note accompanying the clip, the 32-year-old singer described the incident as a bitter experience while thanking God that he survived it.
“Omo! Yesternight Night was a bitter experience on the mainland, Got robbed with my guys in traffic. Thank God for life though,” he wrote.
The singer, whose real name is Terry Alexandar Ejeh, started his music career at 12.
He was a member of ‘Mezo Soprano, a popular dance group that performed at the launch of Kanu Heart Foundation in 2000.
After exiting the group, he embarked on a solo career and came through with ‘Champagne Shower’, his debut project, which shot him into the limelight.
He gained more prominence by producing covers of popular songs including ‘Shape of You’ by Ed Sheeran.
Apala has won numerous awards and recognition for his projects.
