Insecurity: Kwara CP, traditional rulers, others meet

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Tuesday Amienbo with traditional rulers, Local Government TIC chairmen of Ekiti, Irepodun, Oke-Ero, vigilante members and the Special Adviser to Governor on Security, S.T. Bello on Wednesday met to talk about insecurity, kidnapping and banditry in the local governments.
According to commissioner of police, security measures have been put in place to fight the insecurity in the state.
“We are going to tackle the insecurity in the state. We want Kwarans to help police with information.”
CP Amienbo said he would deploy anti-kidnapping and anti-robbery among others to all the 16 local governments to work with DPOs in the areas.
Oba Dr Olusegun Rotimi of Ayedun who spoke on behalf of others thanked the police for the wonderful works they have been doing in fighting insecurity.
He disclosed that, a report got to him yesterday that some people were kidnapped around Idofin-Odo-Ase.
“Before Ekan Meje and Otun Ekiti, they always kidnapped and sometimes victims killed. Ekan Meje police are doing wonderful work in that area. No incident of Kidnapping in that area in the last few months.
“We need the local hunters and vigilante to support the police in fighting crime and criminalities in the state.”
Meanwhile the Special Adviser to Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq on Security, S. T. Bello said all the requests made will be attended to.
“We sent him all the reports on security matter and our governor will do something about it.”
He charged all members of the public to support all the security agencies with the proper information to aid their works.
“Every vigilante group should register under their local government chairman and a copy of the registration form should be submitted to Police, Traditional Rulers and the state government.”
