2 sales reps, driver in prison over theft

For criminal conspiracy, theft and criminal intimidation contrary to Section 97, 287 of Penal Code Law, three people have been remanded in prison custody.
Yusuf Suleiman, David Solomon and Kazeem Raheem, were employed by Alhaja Aishat Apaokagi of Olorunsogo Area of Ilorin at a shop located at Ogele Area, selling soft drinks.
Suleiman and Solomon who were her sales representatives while Raheem was her personal driver were all brought before an Ilorin Magistrate Court over an alleged stealing.
According to the Police First Information Report (FIR), a petition was written on 20/10/2021 by Alhaja Apaokagi to the Kwara State Commissioner of Police.
On 08/10/2021, David sold soft drinks valued at N315,200 and kept the money inside the shop over the weekend.
While only Suleiman, Solomon and Raheem have free access to the place where the money was kept. But on 11/10/2021, David claimed that the money supposed to be taken to the bank for deposit had been stolen from the shop.
The FIR further reveals that investigations conducted by the Police reveal that Suleiman, Solomon and Raheem conspired together to steal the money, as only the three had free access to the place where the money was kept.
While the trio were always in the know of the shop’s keys, it was discovered that the shop was not burgled nor broken into.
It was further discovered that they all intimidated their employer when she demanded for her money.
Standing without any legal representation, the judge asked about their legal team. Surprisingly, they all chose to stand in and opt for self-legal representation instead.
The presiding judge, Magistrate Adebayo Qudus, while adjoining the case till 8th of November for further hearing, ordered that the defendants be remanded in prison custody.
