Unilorin Don to Journalists: Document experience for upcoming pen pushers

The head of department, Mass Communication, University of Ilorin, Dr Saudat Abdulbaki has charged journalists to document their experience upcoming pen pushers.

According to her, such documentation will help build the upcoming ones in the journalism profession.

She made this known on Saturday during the book launch titled ‘Fundamentals of Journalism’ authored by the  Herald Newspaper, Sunday Editor, Jibril Issa, at the NUJ Centre, Ilorin.

“The journalists should emulate the author by putting down their experience on field so that, they will be motivated and help them in their career,” she said.

She described the book as comprehensive adding that it touches every vital aspect of the profession and that it engraves a deeper understanding of journalism.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University Malete, Prof.Saka Mahmud described it as a job well done adding that the book will be very useful to students of Mass Communication.

He however charged the members of the public to always patronise newspapers in order to support the efforts of journalists.

Also speaking, the Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of National Pilot Newspaper, Alhaji Billy Adedamola appreciated the author for putting together his experience in the profession for the benefit of young journalists.

The author, while welcoming the guests said the book is not only meant to contribute knowledge but to also facilitate greater understanding of the practice of journalism.

Among personalities that graced the event were; The Magaji Nda of Ilorin, Alh. Soliu Woru Mohammed, the  Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications to the Kwara State Governor, Dr Muyideen Akorede,  former chief press secretary to Kwara State governor, Alhaji Moshood Adebimpe, Regional Editor of Leadership Newspaper, Alh. Abdulahi Olesin and Editor, National Pilot Newspaper, Christie Doyin.
