Suspected Cultist remanded in Ilorin

A suspected cultist, Ibrahim Olamilekan Saad a.k.a Confidence has  been remanded at the federal correctional center at Oke Kura on Tuesday by a Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin.

According to the First  Information Report obtained by National Pilot, Saad was charged on offenses bordering on criminal conspiracy, illegal possession of Firearms and being a member of secret cult and secret societies.

The said offenses are stated to be in contravention of section 6(b) and 27(1)(c) of Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act Cap R11 LEN 2004 and Section 2 punishable under Section 14 of Secret Cult and Secret Societies (Prohibition) Law 2016.

The defendant who was said to have been arrested by one Sgt Isiaka Abubakar attached to Anti-Bomb Section, posted to Rotana Hotel along Fate/Basin Road, Ilorin was found to be in possession of a nylon bag containing one locally made pistol, one live cartridge and a bottle of Codeine Syrup.

He said that the arrest was made by the officer upon the information through management of the hotel, where he was nabbed at the pool side

Further investigation revealed that Saad is a member of Eiye secret confraternity and said to have named some of his cohorts as Goke Olumide a.k.a GO, Samson Emmanuel and Suleiman Yusuf all of whom are members of the same confraternity group.

The prosecutor, Nosiru Yusuf pray to the court grant another date in order for the police complete the investigation and catch others who are still at large.

In his ruling, Magistrate Ibrahim Mohammed ordered the remand of the defendant in prison and also adjourned the matter till 6th of January, 2022 for further mention.
