Prof of Dance, Ojuade holds Inaugural lecture today

Today, Thursday 11th of November, All roads lead to the University of Ilorin, as a celebrated Performing Art lecturer and thinker holds his inaugural lecture at the school auditorium.

The institution is holding its 208th inaugural lecture, in honour of the man of the moment, Professor, Jeleel Ojuade a professor of Dance in the Performing Arts Department, Faculty of Arts.

The Inaugural lecture titled, ‘Dance is life, life is Dance: A cyclical Nature of Man on Earth ‘ is a significant milestone in an academic’s career and a celebration of his promotion to the rank of Professor.

The event which is set to hold around 5pm to 6pm will be chaired by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Abdulkareem Age.

Ojuade became a professor On October 1, 2017, establishing himself as an eminent authority on dance theory and praxis.

Born on April 18, 1969, Ojuade is a researcher and dancer, specialising in Yoruba Bata and Dundun dances. He holds a PhD in Performance Studies (Dance) from the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan.

The President, Association of Dance Scholars and Practitioners of Nigeria, and a member of professional bodies including the Society of Nigerian Theatre Artists, National Association for the Promotion of Studies in Arts and Social Sciences, and Dance Guild of Nigeria.
