Court remands man for alleged rape of minor

Nigerian Police Force, Kwara State Command, yesterday arraigned a man before an Ilorin Magistrate Court for allegedly raping a minor.
According to the First Information Report obtained by National Pilot, the suspect, Kposu Benjamin, was charged with rape, which is contrary to Section 283 of Penal Code Law.
It was said that the matter was reported at ‘A’ Divisional Police by one Bamikaye Kayode, a staff of Illumination Security Company, before it was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department and referred to the Anti Human Trafficking Women and Children Protection Unit.
The complainant stated that he got a call from one Mohammed Jimoh, the Managing Director of Motis Table Water Company that the security guard (Benjamin) he got from their company had raped someone.
National Pilot gathered that the suspect, Benjamin forcefully had sexual intercourse with his 17 years old victim, Aishat Sanni.
Helpless Aisha was said to have fainted during the sexual intercourse before she was rushed to a medical centre at Gaa Akanbi Area, Ilorin, where she was medically examined.
During the course of investigation conducted by the Police, Kposu Benjamin was reported to have testified to have penetrated the victim’s genital with his fingers.
The medical report obtained from the medical centre revealed that there was a whitish substance suspected to be the suspect’s sperm on the pubic hair of the victim and the hymen of the victim was not intact.
Magistrate Adeniyi, in her ruling, ordered that Kposu Benjamin be remanded in the Correctional facility, she therefore adjourned the matter till 8th of December for further mention.
