1,900 prospective corps members deployed to Kwara

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has deployed 1, 900 prospective corps members to Kwara for the 2021 Batch ‘C’, Stream II orientation course.
A statement by Dipo Morakinyo, NYSC Spokesman in Kwara on Tuesday said the orientation course would commence on Nov. 24, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp at Yikpata, Edu Local Government.
Participants of the 21-day exercise are expected to arrive at the camp on Wednesday for registration, which will close on Nov. 27.
The State Coordinator, Mrs Francisca Olaleye, was quoted in the statement as expressing the readiness of the NYSC management to run a hitch-free orientation in the state.
According to Olaleye, all the collaborating agencies have been adequately mobilised for the exercise and they have assured of their continuous support.
“The Army is always ready for us with their personnel, the Police will be with us as usual, to secure the camp and its environment, both the State ministry of health and NCDC are ready for us.
It’s a national programme and just as we have been doing together in the time past, we are ready to synergies with these critical stakeholders to achieve, yet another successful orientation exercise,” the statement quoted the coordinator as saying.
Olaleye urged the general public, especially and the people of Kwara to accord the prospective corps members warm reception as they come to the state for the exercise.
“All the major car parks in the state and their commuters have been sensitised in readiness to host the newly deployed corps members,” he said.
According to her, the corps members will be sworn in by the Chief Judge of the state on Nov. 27.
She said that the orientation camp, at Yikpata, in Edu had been put in good shape to provide minimum comfort for the participants, adding that the camp had been fumigated to prevent wild insects during the exercise.
“There will be full compliance with the COVID-19 protocols during the orientation exercise,” he said.
She said that the officials of the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) would be on the ground at the camp to screen all the participants, the camp officials, and everyone that would be visiting the camp for COVID-19.
“The management of NYSC wishes all the prospective corps members journey mercy as they travel to their respective camps and strictly warned them to avoid night travels,” the coordinator said.
