I started business to become employer of labour – CEO, African Spare parts Dealer

 

Elder Christian Ikekwene popularly known as ‘Africa’ is one of the pioneer dealers of vehicle and motorcycle spare parts in Ilorin, Kwara State.

He started the business in 1976.

He said his passion to satisfy customers made him very popular in the state and gave him edge among his competitors.

Ikekwene who had his 70th birthday celebration last  Sunday said he started business as a shoemaker but  later abandoned it when he discovered  his divine calling as spare parts business.

He said, “I ventured into shoe making business but couldn’t cope. While praying and seeking God’s divine intervention and he opened business doors for me.

“I became very prominent and popular because I give my customers what they deserve. I do business with the fear of God and with whole sincerity, commitment and God fears to take the glory.

“Capital is not the major thing in business, but discovering oneself, which is ultimate for every entrepreneur and putting God first, which made me successful, ” he added.

The CEO stressed that meeting clients target and maintaining a cordial relationship with them has been secrets of his success story in the business world.

He, however, urged youths to embrace vocational/entrepreneurial skills as well as formal education acquisition in order to be successful in life.

He also encouraged the state government to create enabling environment for business activities to thrives in the state through tax reduction and provision of basic infrastructures.
