Al-Ilori: Stakeholders make case for inclusion of books in education syllabus

Scholars and stakeholders within and outside Kwara State have called for the adoption of publications of late founder of Markaz School of Arabic Studies and Islamic Training Centre, Agege, Lagos, Sheikh Adam Al-Ilori in the education syllabus in the country.
They made the call during the Public Presentation of the book, System of Education in Islam: Translations with Commentaries of Sheikh Adam by Dr Hamid Ibrahim Olagunju, the late Head of Department of Religions and Arabic Department, University of Ilorin.
Present at the programme held at the Main Auditorium of the institution on Saturday were the Mudiru Markaz, Sheik Habib Al-Ilori, the Registrar of JAMB, Prof Is-Haq Oloyede, former Grand Kadis of the Kwara State Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice Idris Haroon and Justice Soliu Olahuntoyin Muhammed, Chief Imam of the University of Ilorin, Prof AbdulGaniyu Oladosu (AGAS), Prof Lanre Badmas and Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN among others.
In his address, Prof Badmas who quoted chapter 36 of Glorious Qur’an said that immortality is very easy to attain in life depending on the good works left behind by those that have died.
He said the writer of the book has done fantastically well before his demise adding that he started the teaching of Arabic course in Arabic languages which was hitherto done in English adding that the action was enough to immortalise him.
He said the book with is dedicated to late Sheikh Adam was made possible with the support of Shiekh Habib.
The Book Reviewer, Prof Is-haq Oloyede who prayed Allah to grant the full reward of the work to late Olagunju to immortalise said although late sheikh Adam did not pay much attention to the English speaking audience in his multidimensional communication with the world, the work will go a long way to bring late Baba’s messages to a much wider audience in English which is one of the most popular language of communication in the work today.
Oloyede revealed that he was one of the view people who can testify that late Sheikh Adam delivered lectures in English.
The Mudiru Markaz, Sheikh Habib in his vote of thanks called on other students of the late scholar to engage in similar ventures of translating his numerous books into English language for incorporation into various education curriculums in the country.
Yusuf Olaolu Ali however for collaborative efforts to ensure that the works of late Shaykh Adam is not only left as thesis but further published to reach wider audiences thought-out the country.
Copies of the book were later distributed to the students who attended the event.
