Senator Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim says he is still in disbelief and a sad mood following the shocking demise of the Kwara State Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Tunde Ashaolu.
In a statement issued on Monday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, Sen Rafiu said he is pained to hear of the untimely death of such a beautiful soul who is uniquely rich and wealthy at heart.
The Kwara South lawmaker said the vacuum left behind by Ashaolu who turned 47 a day before his death will be hard to fill.
He said, “He was such a gift to the world and our political family. His commitment to our team was unequalled, and his intelligence distinct, as he was always proferring the most brilliant of solutions to knotty issues at the cheapest cost.
While describing the late media practitioner as patriotic, selfless and highly professional, he admitted his admiration for his character of always soliciting for others, and never for himself.
“He will always be remembered for his professionalism in the conduct of his duty as the party’s spokesperson,” he said.
Sen Rafiu, who said he’ll miss their personal relationship, recalled how amiably, the late Ashaolu refers to him as a blood brother as if they were born together.
“I spoke to him at about 2.30pm few hours to his last breath and it was him who initiated the call asking about my interest, definitely, not his own as usual.”
“He hardly worried about himself, but always worried about people around him even me that I am somewhat more than him.“
The Senator condoled with the family of the deceased, leader of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the party, and people of Kwara for losing a loved one.
He prayed to God to console the bereaved and rest the soul of the dear departed.
“Good night my dear brother”, the senator submitted.
